What is SEO?

Search engine optimization, as we all know is adopting ways and techniques to rank higher in the search engines. Search engines are the biggest source to drive traffic to your website or blog.

What are types of SEO?

SEO is mainly categorized into three categories.

  1. On-Page SEO.
  2. Technical SEO.
  3. Off-Page SEO.

The on-page SEO covers your content quality, the length of your articles, image optimization, headings, readability score and similar factors.
The technical SEO covers the page loading time, the URL, mobile friendliness of your page.
The off-page SEO is the boss. It primarily covers backlinks and social appearance signals.

Backlinks are other quality websites linking to your website and social signals are the number of shares that your page has got on social media platforms.

So, Search engine optimization is bulky.

What should be the first process in the search engine Optimization?

First Process: Keyword research.

It sounds simple but it isn't simple. Okay you've a brilliant idea, a wonderful niche to start a blog. And you're a very amazing writer. Alas! You'll not get much readers from search engines.
Keyword Research for SEO

The competition today is so massive that it is almost impossible to rank few keywords. And it's for our best to avoid spending our energy on such topics. And that depicts the importance of choosing right keywords.

Choosing right keywords boost our chances to rank higher with very less efforts.
We've to choose long tail and less competitive keywords. So, our first process always is to build a list of keywords that we're going to target.

How to do keyword research?

There are a lot of keyword research tools available in the market. Most of them are paid like AHREFS and MOZ and few are free. You can always use those tools to choose keywords with decent audience but less traffic.

#2nd Step: Writing Content

The second step is to write long and informative content. If you'll go to build backlinks without quality content, there are very less chances of ranking a page. The second process always should be to write wonderful content.

How to write your content?

Okay, one of the recent most SEO factor is the readability score of the pages. It is nothing but easiness to read and navigate through out your page.

  • You can always improve readability score by breaking your page into smaller paragraphs.
  •  We must always use headings and subheadings.
  •  Use good images and videos to make our content interesting and write long articles.
  • Use bold, italics and underlines to highlight important lines.
  •  Your articles should be atleast 1000 words long.

Most of the articles that appear on the first page of the Google has a length over 2000 words. If you wish to improve your rankings, you've to start writing longer articles.

#Optimize your images.

This is a pro tip. Always shrink your images on your pages. This will improve the page loading speed drastically. If you're using wordpress, you can use plugins to do the job for you.
If you're not on wordpress you can always shrink the images manually before uploading them. Use websites like tinypng to do the work for you.

#A word on Technical SEO

Okay, you chose a perfect keyword and wrote a massive  wonderful article targeting that keyword. You optimized on-page SEO factors and published your blog. Tada!
Technical SEO

A visitor visits your blog and your page took a lot of time to load. He lost his patience and closed the tab. This increases the bounce rate which is hazardous for SEO.

That brings us to an important topic, technical SEO. You should optimize your pages to be flexible and quick to load. Most of the modern platforms give your preinstalled themes. Choose a right and simple theme.
URLs are also important. If possible, use direct URL with keywords. Example: website.com/keyword. Avoid month and year tag in the url in the URL.

Last but not the Least: Off-Page SEO.

Now, your blog is fully ready. It has ample number of decent articles. It is fully optimized for on-page and technical factors. This is the key to rank your pages. We've to make backlinks and this is the toughest job.
Off-page SEO
If you're a new blogger, you'll get a lot of douche backlink ideas like comments and profile backlinks.
Believe me, almost all of them are waste of energy. The only backlinks that really matters is the in-text backlinks. Like genuine websites and articles mentioning you in their articles. And getting such backlinks is a tough job but not impossible.

The easiest way is to write quality guest posts and Web 2.0. There'll be a lot of blogs in your niche, that accept guest posts. Write a wonderful article and submit your guest post with a link to your blog.

Web 2.0 is also a method to get in-text backlinks. There you've to start another blog or website and write an article linking to your primary website. I strongly recommend you to write genuine article on the Web 2.0 blog, otherwise it'll fall in spam category.

Final Words.

There is a lot to look for. I've not mentioned a lot of SEO factors that hardly matters in today's world. So, I didn't mention them. The above mentioned factors are the most important and the one those matter.
